Name Your Baby Meaningfully

The naming of a baby (Namakaran Sanskara) is done with great interest and fanfare. Welcoming a new life is always a joy to any family. Choosing a name is a difficult process. Friends and relatives are invited to participate in the namakaran ceremony.Parents encourage every elders present in the ceremony to suggest name.

According to the Grihyasutras, there are 5 fundamentals to select a name for the baby. It depends on the culture, religion & education of the family, and should be auspicious.
1. should be easy to pronounce and sound pleasant.
2. should contain a specified number of syllables and vowels.
3. should indicate the sex of the baby.
4. should signify wealth, fame, luck and influence.
5. should be suggestive of the tradition of the family.
